Base Camp Farm & Ranch — Refund & Returns Policy

Everything we sell is perishable food raised and handled with care. Because of that, most items can't be returned once they leave our hands — but if something isn't right, we want to make it right. Please read below.

Perishable products — no returns
Meat, poultry, eggs, honey, and other perishable food items cannot be returned or exchanged once picked up, for food-safety reasons. If there's a problem with your order, contact us right away (see below) and we'll work with you.

Problems with your order
Inspect your order at pickup. If an item is damaged, mispackaged, or not what you ordered, tell us at pickup or contact us within 48 hours at Howdy@BC-FR.com or 903-301-0449. Send a photo if you can. We'll evaluate the issue and make it right — a replacement on your next pickup or a refund, at our discretion.

Catch-weight items
Most of our meat is sold by catch-weight — the final price reflects the actual weight of your package, so the amount charged may differ slightly from an estimate. This is not an error and is not grounds for a refund. Your receipt shows the exact weight and price.

Whole, half, and share deposits (pre-harvest orders)
Whole hog, whole or half lamb, quarter/half/whole beef, and similar shares are ordered with a deposit that reserves your animal. Because we plan our raising and harvest schedule around confirmed shares, deposits are non-refundable — with one exception: if for any reason we are unable to fulfill your order, your deposit is refunded in full. Before harvest we'll contact you to confirm your cut-sheet preferences and schedule pickup.

Pickup and unclaimed orders
Orders are held for pickup at the farm in Rusk, TX. If you can't make a scheduled pickup, contact us to reschedule. Orders left unclaimed after a reasonable period, without communication, may be forfeited without refund (we can't hold perishable product indefinitely).

Shipped orders (beginning fall 2026)
When FedEx frozen shipping launches for beef, pork, and lamb, frozen items shipped with dry ice or gel packs are perishable and non-returnable. If an order arrives spoiled due to a carrier delay, photograph it on arrival and contact us within 24 hours and we'll replace it. We can't replace orders where an incorrect shipping address was provided, or shipments that were refused or left unattended after delivery. Poultry and eggs are pickup-only and are never shipped.
